Kamen Rider Agito Movie: Project G4 is a feature film based on the series, released in 2001. The movie takes place between episodes 41 and 42 of the series, and features the debut of Kamen Rider Gills' Exceed Form and Kamen Rider Agito's Shining Form. The movie also introduces a new villain, Kamen Rider G4, a military cyborg who is part of a secret project called G4 System.

Plot Summary

The movie begins with a group of students from Jyohoku University visiting an exhibition of ancient relics at the Akatsuki Dam. Among them are Mana Kazaya, a friend of Shouichi Tsugami, and her classmate Tomoko Miura, who has a crush on Shouichi. However, their trip is interrupted by an attack from the Unknown, who target the students for unknown reasons. Shouichi arrives at the scene and transforms into Kamen Rider Agito to fight them off, with the help of Ryo Ashihara, who transforms into Kamen Rider Gills.

Meanwhile, at the SAUL base, a secret military organization that deals with the Unknown threat, Major Kaoru Kino prepares to launch the G4 System, a project that aims to create the ultimate weapon against the Unknown. The G4 System consists of a suit of armor and a motorcycle that are powered by a nuclear reactor. The suit enhances the wearer's physical abilities and is equipped with various weapons, such as a machine gun, a rocket launcher, and a sword. The motorcycle can transform into a flying mode and can also combine with the suit to form a powerful cannon. Kino intends to use the G4 System to destroy all the Unknown and become the strongest being in the world.

Kino selects his subordinate, Shiro Mizuki, as the test subject for the G4 System. Mizuki is a loyal soldier who idolizes Kino and is willing to sacrifice himself for the project. However, Mizuki is unaware that Kino has implanted a device in his brain that allows him to control him remotely. Kino also plans to use Mana Kazaya as a bait to lure out the Unknown, as he believes that she has a special power that attracts them.

Kino sends Mizuki to attack Shouichi and Ryo at the Akatsuki Dam, where they are joined by Makoto Hikawa, who transforms into Kamen Rider G3-X, another suit of armor developed by SAUL. Mizuki reveals himself as Kamen Rider G4 and engages in a fierce battle with the other riders. He proves to be too powerful for them and manages to defeat them all. He then kidnaps Mana and takes her to the SAUL base.

Shouichi, Ryo, and Makoto recover from their injuries and decide to team up to rescue Mana and stop Kino's plan. They infiltrate the SAUL base and confront Kino and Mizuki. Kino reveals his true motive and activates the device in Mizuki's brain, forcing him to obey his commands. He orders Mizuki to kill Mana, but Shouichi intervenes and saves her. He then transforms into Kamen Rider Agito's Shining Form, a new form that he unlocks by using his full potential. Ryo also transforms into Kamen Rider Gills' Exceed Form, a new form that he obtains by overcoming his inner darkness.

The final battle begins between Kamen Rider Agito Shining Form and Kamen Rider G4. Agito uses his Shining Caliber sword to slash through G4's armor and damage his nuclear reactor. He then uses his Shining Rider Kick to finish him off. However, before he dies, Mizuki regains his free will and thanks Agito for freeing him from Kino's control.

Kino tries to escape with the G4 motorcycle, but Makoto chases him down with his own motorcycle. Makoto shoots at Kino's motorcycle and causes it to explode. However, Makoto also gets caught in the blast and falls into the water. He is later rescued by his allies and survives.

The movie ends with Shouichi, Ryo, and Mana leaving the SAUL base and returning to their normal lives. Shouichi promises to protect Mana from any danger and gives her a hug. Tomoko, who has followed them to the base, witnesses this and feels jealous. She decides to join SAUL as a new recruit and vows to become stronger.

Review

Kamen Rider Agito Movie: Project G4 is a fun and action-packed movie that fans of the series will enjoy. The movie expands on the themes and characters of the series, while also introducing new elements and forms. The movie has a good balance of drama, comedy, and romance, as well as some twists and surprises. The movie also has a great soundtrack that matches the mood and tone of the scenes.

The movie's main strength is its action scenes, which are well-choreographed and executed. The movie showcases the abilities and weapons of each rider, as well as their teamwork and rivalry. The movie also features some impressive special effects and CGI, especially for the G4 System and its transformations. The movie's climax is especially thrilling and satisfying, as it pits the strongest forms of Agito and G4 against each other.

The movie's main weakness is its plot, which is somewhat predictable and clichéd. The movie's villain, Kino, is a typical megalomaniac who wants to destroy the world for his own glory. His motivation and backstory are not very well-developed or explained. His plan to use Mana as a bait is also not very clear or logical. The movie also has some plot holes and inconsistencies, such as how Kino was able to implant a device in Mizuki's brain without his knowledge or consent.

Overall, Kamen Rider Agito Movie: Project G4 is a solid and entertaining movie that delivers what it promises: a lot of action and excitement. The movie is a must-watch for fans of Kamen Rider Agito, as well as for fans of tokusatsu in general.

Rating

I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars.
